Recently BC received a letter by certified mail, with about 5 different addresses crossed out on it. Appropriate since we've lived at 5 different places in Montana alone. For postage of $4.42, his old school in NJ wanted to know if he wanted his permanent records, or if they should destroy them.

He asked for them. He says at last he will find out who was hiding behind those one way mirrors when they tested him. He's sure it was aliens.

He was a smart aleck even at a young age. For example, "What's wrong with this picture." You're supposed to say that a tiger wouldn't be walking on a leash in your average park. He insisted that what was wrong was the birds in the tree. They would have known enough to fly away if a tiger was under them. Or, he counted up to 20 and refused to go on. "If I can count to 20, I can count to any number." Later, in high school, he argued that math is an inexact science, after all no one knows the value of pi. Ah, the perils of having a father who argues for a living.

I remember going in with my friend to check our sons' permanent records, as soon as it became legal to do so. The staff seems rather freaked out and stalled us long enough to present us with folders that had only the dates of enrollment. I wonder what went back in the folder as soon as we left?
